Medical waste refers to any wastes made in whole or part of human tissue, animal tissue, blood or other body liquids, secretions, drugs or other pharmaceutical products, bandages, syringes, needles or other medical sharp objects.

Hazardous waste is defined as waste that may cause or significantly contribute to an increase in mortality or serious irreversible or incapacitating reversible illness: pose a substantial present or potential hazard to human health or the environment when improperly treated, stored, transported, disposed of, or otherwise managed.
